John is telling some eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ miracles. Last week we saw Jesus display his authority as the Messiah over illness, disease, and physical maladies with two stories back to back (Chapter 4-5). This week we hear testimony of Jesus’ authority over nature in two back to back stories in chapter 6; feeding the five thousand and walking on water.
