Luke 7:36-50; Ephesians 2: 8-9

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…” Ephesians 2:8-9 will serve as a theme for the next two weeks. On July 24 we will focus on the phrase “by grace,” and next week we will turn our attention to the words “through faith.” If we’ve been around church at all, these two words are very familiar to us. We sing about them, we know what they mean, but do we really understand how grace applies to us? 

Too often we use the words, but we don’t fully accept the reality that we are in need of grace. We talk about the power of grace and the beauty of grace, but we’d like to think that we are not really that needy. Maybe we need a little grace, but we can cover the rest by trying harder or believing the right ideas or other personal choices. 

This message will invite us to go all in with God’s saving grace and experience the freedom when we accept that grace exposes our guilt, encourages our spiritual growth and invite us to lives of gratitude.
