What is it you are pursuing after in life? Pleasure, power, prestige, position, popularity, praise, people, productivity, possessions, perfection… The list of paths to pursue seems endless. Jesus says it best when it comes to pursuits in life, “Seek 1st the Kingdom of God…”
He likens the Kingdom of God, seeking it, finding it, to a person who finds a hidden treasure in a field, selling everything to buy the field to have it…. like a merchant who searches for fine pearls and finds one beyond measure, again, selling everything to buy the pearl and have it.
Jesus keeps giving us his ‘greatest hits’ of parables one after the other from Matthew 13, and this Sunday we look at ‘a hidden treasure and a pearl beyond measure.’ What would you say you treasure most? What might your closest friends say you treasure most? What is your hidden treasure, pearl beyond measure, so valuable you’d rearrange your life to enjoy it, have more of it, to actually have it? Read Matthew 13:44-46 for Sunday.
See you Sunday!
