Can you tell time?  Most people can look at a watch or clock or digital number that keeps track of time and know what time it is.  Yet, do you know what time it is?  Jesus, our Redeemer, the Savior of the World, knows how to tell time.

Jesus tells a sobering parable (an allegorical story with powerful spiritual truth and insight about the Kingdom of God) found in Matthew 13.  It’s a story about weeds and wheat.  After a story about a Good Sower, sowing good seed into all kinds of different soils, including good soil, he tells another story about weeds and wheat.

There is a Good Sower of good seed, who is the Son of Man, and there is another sower who sows weed seed, who is the devil.  Both weeds and wheat grow up together.  Yet, a day is coming when God will send his angels and harvest up the weeds and the wheat.  The weeds will be bundled up and thrown into the fire.  The wheat will be gathered up and welcomed into the Kingdom of God.

Jesus is telling time.  We are living in an ‘in between time’ and now, is the time of salvation.  After telling this sobering story about the reality of our time and a time to come, he says, “He who has ears let them hear.”

Do you know what time it is?  Do you understand Jesus’ story?  Now is the time of salvation.  O that all would know the time we live in.  Thank you Jesus for your grace, make us good soil,

In Jesus parable, Jesus instructs his disciples to not pull up the weeds before it’s harvest time… Interesting.  What do you think Jesus is communicating through this instruction?

See you Sunday,
