Worship for Sunday July 12th, 2020:
Step One: Worship the Lord

Scripture: Isaiah 40 (read aloud)
“Comfort! Comfort! Comfort!”
That’s right, a voice is crying out from the wilderness,
“Prepare the way of the Lord!”
Sins forgiven:
Lifting up those in the valleys – making the mountain tops accessible!
The glory of God is being revealed and all people will see it together!
Cry out:
“All people are like grass – here today, gone tomorrow.
Only thing that will last is the Word of God!”
Good news:
“Here is your God – with you!
No need to fear for the Lord is near!”
The One who has lived, died, and rose again, is alive forevermore!
“Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord sits enthroned over the earth.
He brings rulers and princes of this world to nothing.
No one compares to him.
No one is his equal.
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God!
Never tires, understanding all.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Lord, Almighty and All Loving – in the midst of the storm we bless you.
In the midst of the wilderness experiences of life we bless you.
In good times and bad times, we bless you.
You are Savior. Always.
You are our Shepherd. Always.
You are Creator, Redeemer, Friend. Always.
Forgive us, bring to us humility as we invite your presence to fill us.
Lead us to the understanding of your unbelievable goodness.
You are the good news giver; you are the GOOD NEWS.
Free us minds, our hearts, our bodies to serve you and love you unbound.
Give to us the glory strength and wisdom to walk in your life-giving ways.
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – AMEN.

- What are your wilderness experiences? How has God shaped you in the midst of them? Can you tell a story of God’s presence, power and purpose being revealed during a ‘wilderness’ experience? Reflect and meditate on that. Does the reality of God present with you in the wilderness experiences of life give you increased peace and joy?
