Scripture Passages and Lyrics to worship songs

New Testament Reading: Matthew 5:1-11,

“Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down.  His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.’

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for there is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.  Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Old Testament Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

MIGHTY TO SAVE
Everyone needs compassion, A love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness, The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

Savior, he can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save
Forever, author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me, All my fears and failures
And fill my life again
I give my life to follow, Everything I believe in
And now I surrender

Savior, he can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save
Forever, author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

‘TIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, And to take him at his word
Just to rest upon his promise, And to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

(Chorus)
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him, How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus O for grace to trust him more

O how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust his cleansing blood
And in simple faith to plunge me ‘neath, the healing, cleansing flood

Chorus

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease
Just from Jesus simply taking, Life and rest, and joy and peace

Chorus

I’m so glad I learned to trust thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, friend
And I know that thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end
