Welcome and Opening Prayer: Jeff
Song: “Everlasting God”
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord (repeat)
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord (repeat)
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on
Wings like eagles
Song: “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Here there by Thy great help I’ve come
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let that goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Responsive Reading: Jeff (Proverbs, Jeremiah, the Sermon on the Mount, and James)
Leader: Do not worry about what you will eat or drink, or what you will wear. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
People: Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Leader: See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
People: If this is how he clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and gone tomorrow, will he not much more clothe you?
Leader: Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. And do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
People: Here is what we ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” Let the one who boasts, boast in this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight.
Prayer: Mark
Message: Faith Does: Who Can Boast? James 4:13-17
Song response: “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
