Worship for Sunday August 2nd, 2020: for all ages
Introduction: Why do we come together to worship God? Because we love him and he loves us. How do we come to worship? With a humble heart. When do we come to worship? Anytime is fine – all the time is great. But we come together as a people of faith at special designated times to focus on hearing from God through his Word and by listening together for his Spirit.
Prayer: (Read aloud)
We praise you, Lord Jesus! You came all the way down from the highest place to the lowest place. And you did it for us! What can we say but ‘thank you’? Our knees bow and our mouths will tell that you are Lord.
Song: Give Us Clean Hands
Scripture Readings: (Can be read out loud)
- Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
- John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
- Galatians 5:1,6, “It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. The only thing that counts if faith expressing itself through love.”
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever, AMEN.

- Who can you reach out to this week to encourage in a way of your faith working itself out in love? Some tangible action? Some way of reaching across and reaching out from a simple greeting to a more complex expression of love?

‘The Lord bless you and keep you’ and may His Kingdom Come in all of its fullness in and through you, and even in spite of you! God is gracious!
