Our Identity in Christ: Citizens of the Kingdom

Guest Speaker Pastor Jesse Ramer: Our Identity in Christ: Citizens of the Kingdom

Message

Our Identity in Christ: Citizens of the Kingdom
Ephesians 2

What comes to mind when you think about July 4th? I think of fireworks, barbecues, parades, American flags, and the Declaration of Independence. It’s a day where we as a nation pause and celebrate our independence from Great Britain. It is a day to reflect on our great country and its values. It’s a day to be thankful for the incredible freedoms that we as citizens have. Whether we have thought about it or not, our citizenship plays an important role in our identities.

What does it mean to be a citizen of Jesus’ kingdom? How did we become citizens? What is Jesus’ kingdom?

Over the next three weeks, we are going to dive into our identities in Jesus as explored in Ephesians 2:1-22. On July 3rd, we will see that as believers in Jesus, we are dual citizens. We are citizens of the United States, and we are “fellow citizens with God’s people” in Jesus’ kingdom. What does it mean to be a citizen of Jesus’ kingdom? How did we become citizens? What is Jesus’ kingdom?

On July 10th and 17th we will explore different aspects of our identities in Christ, including that we are ‘members of [God’s] household’ and we are being joined together to become God’s holy temple.

In Him,
Jesse
