Minor Prophet? Habakkuk: God’s Goodness and Power in Times of Trouble

Book of Habakkuk

My prayer for all of you was a blessed July 4th weekend.  As we enter the core summer month of July, and many people are ‘on the go’, my prayer is for safety, rest and relaxation – whether it’s a camping trip, a road/plane/train adventure with family or to see family, or a day away in the mountains – to take some deep breaths.  And as you breathe, to breathe in God’s love and exhale stress, worry, and anxiety.  And as you encounter others, to be curious, ask good questions, love another well, breathe in community and exhale blessing.

I always find that taking time away from the normal everyday routines, stepping away from the normal everyday responsibilities can bring new perspectives, fresh energy, and restored joy to the everyday callings of faithfulness God has given.  Summer can be a good time for this and my prayer is you can enter into God’s restoration with intentionality.

Sunday’s message is from the Book of Habakkuk: God’s Goodness and Power in Times of Trouble.  Our special offering this month is for the Stryd’s.  What is your ‘go to’ mode of being and operation when you are in a ‘time of trouble’?  Our God is good and powerful.  Not sometimes – always.  Habbakuk speaks some challenging words to God regarding his goodness and power in times of trouble and God responds.

See you Sunday, in God’s gracious hands,
    Pastor Mark
