This Sunday worship service, heading into July 4th Holiday week, promises to be worth the price of admission – and that’s something since you can come anytime for free. It will only cost you some God given time and a willful desire to grow.
Philippians 2:12-18 is a truckload of treasure for living. “Do everything without grumbling” Paul says. That’s a tall order when grumbling has become a national pastime. Grumble in the morning, grumble in the evening, grumble the whole day through… sounds like a song I used to know.
In light of Paul’s message and our 4th of July holiday, I’ve penned some new lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner. Come Sunday and here it performed. Come Sunday ready to grow in the call of God to humility, hospitality, and honesty. Read the text in preparation for Sunday and ask (and answer): How am I doing with this issue of grumbling?
Don’t miss the train on our journey this summer through Philippians. One time a week, Philippians reading in its entirety, in one sitting. And commit to head and heart memory Philippians 1:9-11, “This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.”
